Seeing this reminded me that I saw my first swallow this morning. They usually sit on the telegraph wires like this pied wagtail. However, they only sit there as youngsters waiting for their parents to feed them. Swallows do everything on the wing as adults.
You really know your birds. I have trouble identifying new birds as there is such variety in appearance and slight differences can mean a different identification.
