Three old rooks by rosiekind

Three old rooks

There were a lot of rooks sitting in this dead tree but I liked this one of the three of them together. From a distance I thought they were crows and thought I would entitle my image with "A murder of crows" but then they turned out to be rooks. The way to tell them apart is by their beaks as the rooks beak is white rather than black and it is a different shape. I don't very often see rooks along Wood Lane so I am not sure what they were doing there other than probably having a rest in the sunshine!
Great capture this trio, nice composition

One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy

Hadn't realised the difference in the beaks. I'd always reckoned 'if it's one rook it's a crow and if there are lots of crows they are rooks'!
