This statue of Millicent Fawcett was unveiled in Parliament Square last week. She was a tireless campaigner for women's right to education and the vote, and a founder of Newnham Colllege, Cambridge. Her statue is by the artist Gillian Wearing, who has captured the texture of Fawcett's woollen coat (lots of people in Parliament Square could not resist touching the statue), and it features photographs of other notable suffragists around the plinth.
