Rajasthan (2012)

Bridget Riley (b. 1931) became known in the 1960s for her black and white Op Art paintings. The Hayward Gallery is currently hosting a retrospective of her work, and this is one of her more recent paintings, which was inspired by trips to India. The exhibition revealed her working methods through the use of cartoon layouts. This painting was designed by Riley in 2012, and has been painted directly on to the gallery wall by her assistants. When the exhibition ends, it will be sanded off the wall, and her assistants will return to inspect and confirm that no visible traces are left.
Interesting.
