Arnold Machin designed this image of the Queen in 1967, and it has been used on UK postage stamps ever since. His design was based on a photograph by John Hedgecoe, and it lays claim to being the world's most reproduced art work, having been printed at least 200 billion times.
The stamp's design includes features to prevent counterfeit reproductions e.g. the words Royal Mail printed in special ink and in wavy lines, die cuts across the Queen's image, and oval perforations in the stamp.
Congratulations Lynn! Your macro not only had a great history behind it, it also brought out some excellent details of this beautiful stamp. I especially liked your composition and choice of backdrop to display the Queen which is why I chose it as a finalist.
Congrats on being short-listed!
