Grave matters

This is the grave of the Tradescant family. John Tradescant the Elder died in 1638. He was a gardener, naturalist and collector, and his cabinet of curiosities became part of Oxford's Ashmolean Museum. His son, John Tradescant the Younger, is also buried here, along with his two wives, and his son, who died at the age of 19.

The grave is in the in the churchyard of St-Mary-at-Lambeth, which was deconsecrated in 1972 and is now home to the Garden Museum
