Gannet colony by rustymonkey

Gannet colony

Well finally home, got back from oz to Hubby needing to go to the Hawkes bay for work and I decided it would be nice to take the camper and have a few days away, weather was awesome and we went to visit the Gannet colony, and had the privilege of finding the first chick there for the season.
Beautiful detail showing the gannets 'eyeliner'

A neat shot - what a difference in the time of hatching between this colony and the one at Muriwai. There were eggs, small chicks and big fluffy white down covered chicks, too large to fit under their parents. Fav

@dide I thought they would be about the same, but this was the first chick anyone had seen so far this season.
