The shop. by ruthmouch

The shop.

Keeping warm in Baalback during the winter months is a necessity, temperatures at night plummet to near zero and it always seems to be windy!
At this shop they make and repair all types of devices to keep you warm...kerosene type heaters, little wood burning stoves etc. they were very happy to have their photo taken, I'll have to go back to get more info!!

Internet has been off all morning-cause unknown, strike tomorrow (teachers want more money) make up day in March, and Thursday off anyway for the Prophet's Birthday....arggghhhhh. Who wants routine and a predictable life???

Thanks to everyone for recent visits and comments...you are all so generous with both your time and words.
Oh. Cool!

So many of these kinds of places here in the states are long gone. It's great to see this, even if in a different country. Well captured, Ruth.
January 22nd, 2013
Another great street shot. You have captured such a great expression.
January 22nd, 2013
great capture!

Beautiful stoves here. These guys look like they could fix anything. Nice street scene.
January 22nd, 2013
What interesting and ornate stoves. The craftsmanship around the doors and the legs of the larger stoves are impressive. At first I thought you made this sepia toned but then realized there was too deep of a brown in the young boy's sweater and the silver of the stoves don't have a sepia look to them. Wonderful Ruth!

Fascinating shot.
January 22nd, 2013
what an interesting shot, so much to look at and so beautifully taken.
January 22nd, 2013
@skipt07 Skip...you have eagle eyes...iphoto has a thingy called"antique" which i fiddled with and then reduced the saturation a tad. The place was like something out of a previous century, but b and w seemed too harsh and I liked the lad's jumper.....The sepia on iphoto always comes out too strongly and I feel jaundiced!
January 22nd, 2013
the processing is perfect for this photo!
January 22nd, 2013
Lovely street shot & the processing has really worked.
January 22nd, 2013
Marvellous Ruth. You wouldn't care to take a bad photo would you, just to make me feel better about myself? :-)

January 22nd, 2013
another masterpiece !

You hardly see any repair shops anymore..everyone buys new..and this is where the credit cards come in..if they had to pay cash they might think twice about buying it. that's life. we have a store in town where you can by all kinds of fireplaces and the like..but don't ask them for rapair or second hand items..none existing.
your picture show a different kind of life..not alway bad or sad but like in this case a proud store owner and maybe his son..like the little three wood burning stoves.. could use one in our home to keep the cold out..-20 C last night and with the windshield factor it feels like minus 28 C. I've not been outside for 2 days now..
