The bogey man! by ruthmouch

The bogey man!

After church and coffee lifts were organised so that folk without cars could get to The Vicarage in the Chouf village of Shemlan, home to Sarah and Nabil Shehadi.

Everyone enjoyed the slightly cooler temperatures, a wonderful lunch in the garden and then a walk followed by a visit to the "Spy School"- where we had some fun!!

A pair of beautiful abandoned houses with fabulous views looking towards the Mediterranean and Beirut International airport.

They were once used as an Armenian orphanage with boys occupying one house and girls the other.

In 1947, the British Government opened the Middle East Centre for Arabic Studies in Shemlan in these houses. This school gained a reputation as being a "spy school" because many of its graduates worked for the C.I.A. or Britain's Foreign Office.
Fav! This is wonderful!
