Desert Truffles by ruthmouch

Desert Truffles

Known as Kema in Lebanon. I have always wondered about these earthy potato-like things sold at the greengrocers. A cheaper (although still pricey) relative of the truffle these pop up in cracks in the desert sands following spring rain. Myth has it, that the more lightening the more truffles! Bedouin women gather them and then they are sold on. Ours come from Syria apparently. Not sure if I have the courage to use them!
those look interesting - I'd be interested to try them, carefully.

at first l thought they were candy! You will have to let us know IF you used them and then how they taste. A nicely composed photo of them
