Lockdown family adventure!!!!

A request has been received for sourdough bread, had to google it (Paul Hollywood is not ugly and seems to be the latest bread guru), and discovered that it is quite a process! So this is stage one: ferment grapes to produce live yeast. It is now sitting somewhere warm for the next three days.........will let you know how things go!
I also looked at making sourdough bread early in lockdown but was too impatient follow through. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I've never associated sourdough starter with grapes... think it might be a revelation!

It's just a way to get some yeast into the mix, grapes often have yeasts growing on them. We have a starter and have shared it several friends to "jump start" their own. We look forward to seeing your results. (Be patient, it takes some getting used to.)

ha! it's the thing to do right now. My hubby is going through a bread making phase. He made "pierogies" the other night, but they ended up more like mini calzones...not that I'm complaining. They were delish.

Grapes....I didn’t know grapes came anywhere near sourdough! I presume this is the sourdough starter!

The gold miners in the the late 1800s made sourdough bread and carried the starter with them. I believe their starter was just made out of flour and water. I've been making bread with some of the kefir I've been making and plain "old" white and whole wheat sandwich bread.
