Peace! by ruthmouch

The Old Stores is delighted to report the arrival of a flight of peace doves. Among them seem to be some rare Mediterranean varieties including the “Gold Spot”, the “Black Floral” from Lebanon and the incredibly rare “Engagement “ doves! (depending on the paper available!!!)

The church and the Brownies are encouraging everyone in the town to make one or more doves, write in them a thought or prayer, display them and photograph them. Doves are a symbol of peace, prayer, love and hope and in remembering the 75th anniversary of VE Day, we are remembering 75 years of peace. Elsie Anton-Stephens (age 11) has made a video demonstrating how to make these simple, origami doves and it is hoped that at the end of the lockdown, the doves will be taken to church and displayed together.
All at the Castle Kitchen wish you good health and peace during the current crisis and especially as we remember the VE anniversary.
What a wonderful plan They look lovely in your window too
