Blazing Sunset

I am still having a difficult time getting away from the house for photos, so this sunset was taken from our deck. I had to shoot over rooftops and under power line wires, but it was worth it for the best sunset I've seen in months. SOOC.
Outstanding

I would never leave the deck if I had this view! Gorgeous!

This is your view from your deck? Certainly no need to leave home when you can get something like this. Awesome.

@losthorizon Thanks for the Fav, Beau. Linda is doing pretty well. She has been out of the hospital for almost a week after a 13 day stay. She still has a lot of pain, but the nice people at physical therapy are very pleased with her progress. Thanks so much for your concern.

@jehill1159 @aglennc LOL Yes, Jody and Anita. I live in the Bear Lake Valley in SE Idaho, and love the scenery here. Just for fun, here is a photo taken in a different direction from the same deck a few months ago. http://365project.org/rvwalker/365/2012-10-24

Such beauty, Ross. Even though you can't get far, so glad there's so much beauty nearby. Hope your wife is feeling better all the time.

@cathieg Thanks so much, Cathie. She is improving, and I think I will be able to get out briefly in a few days. Thanks for asking.

@judis I see what you mean, Judi. The trees along the lower edge of some of her work has a similar theme. It is nice when we can notice an overlap of artistic works. Many 365 photographers use poetry or music to represent their photos as well.

Great capture Ross. I always have trouble getting my colouring right on a sunset, never does it justice, you are bang on.

Like it would be on fire. What a wonderful warm light and I love the silhouette of the trees. Very impressive landscape.

@atooner Thanks, Amy. Correct exposure affects color a lot during sunsets, and exposure is affected by how much sunlight strikes the lens as well as how much dark area is in the frame. I suggest bracketing exposures the next time you see a sunset. Try at least 1/2 stop overexposed and 1/2 stop underexposed. and see if either one is better than your camera's "normal" exposure. If one of them is an improvement, then you will know what to do next time. Good luck!

I do believe you could gave a spectacular 365 Project without leaving your house!

Glad she's on the mend.

I must sit down and figure out the steps to bracketing so I'm ready at those moments when I say "I really should be bracketing this." :^)

@squamloon LOL. That would be a challenge, Jim. I have a second story deck so I can shoot over some rooftops, but would run out of ideas in a hurry. As for bracketing, some DSLR's can be set to automatically take three exposures, but if not, you should be able to manually adjust your exposures and take extra shots 1/2 stop over and 1/2 stop underexposed.

@lily Thanks, Lily. All I need is palm trees and it could have been in your area.

@rvwalker Yep, my camera definitely has a bracketing option,... I just need to teach myself where it is and how to use it. Simple, I'm sure.... but not something I've taken the time to do yet!
