North Window Moonrise

I would have liked a clean shot without people altering the pristine beauty of North Window, but when the state of Utah decided to pay to keep the National Parks open during the Federal shutdown, crowds descended on the Utah parks. Well, the people give the image scale anyway. This photo was taken at sunset in Arches National Park, making the already red rock glow even redder than normal.

I'm home at last. After traveling 20 of the last 27 days, I am hopelessly behind on everything, but will try to start commenting again very soon.
Very cool, Ross. Gorgeous contryside.

Isn't Arches National Park beautiful??!! These people definitely show the size and height of that massive piece of "architecture". Is that little white dot the moon?

It's beautiful. Our state did not fund the parks, so my trip to N. Georgia meant no swimming at the recreation area at Lake Blue Ridge. :(

Welcome home! I've been horrible at commenting, but will hopefully be back in the game after next week. Finger's crossed. I hope you had a delightful trip!

@pflaume Thanks for the fav, Lisa. It was only about 1/4 mile walk, and there were three big arches visible from the area!

@amandal Thanks for the fav, Amanda. This was one case where the moon had to stay small in order to show the entire arch. It was a good experience.

The colors are fabulous and I like the people giving it scale. I also love the big eye shaped opening.

@monkeykid Your memory is amazing, Therese. I'm especially impressed because the older photo was taken from a different angle, and it looks a lot different than this one. Here it is: http://365project.org/rvwalker/365/2013-05-31
