Phoenix is a city built on a grid. You can navigate well without GPS or a map and not ever really get lost. Grand Avenue is the only exception as it runs on a diagonal and was a major highway in the early days. It's still the road you have to take to Las Vegas. Now a days it plays host to industrial sites and the only non-commercial arts district in Phoenix.
