Good weather...relatively speaking

Whilst it's grey, grisly and damp in Brittany today, 2/3 of France is in the icy grip of Jack Frost and his close relatives. Such contrast is not unusual as our western seabord benefits from the 'temperate' effect of the Gulf Stream. So here's the heart of Paimpont in best grey guise, 7C this afternoon.

These houses were built circa 1850-1870 and are protected as Heritage properties. Whilst the style is similar, each house is different and privately owned. The house after the street light, mid shot, bears a plaque. It explains that this was the home of Madame de Gaulle, mother of the one of France's former presidents.

Afterthought...should have mentioned that I cropped this at the level of the car roofs in an attempt to simulate to some degree what it might have looked like circa 150 years ago. Pretend you can't see the aerial farm!
This is similar to the weather here too - rain this morning (though not freezing) and a grey afternoon with occasional bursts of sunshine. This shot captures the feel of the day well.

I think this works rather well and it's enhanced by the foreshortening effect of using your lens on its full telephoto setting.

Well, I have to admit. I was so busy looking at the buildings that I missed the antenna on the roof until I read your commentary.

Seems a lot of the European shots look wet and grey. The antenna's belie the period too.

Great shot and interesting history...It does look cold.

Yes the cars would have given the game away! I can just imagine - instead of cars,... the clip clop of a horse and cart coming down this street! Probably Sherlock Holmes!

It is very interesting. I enjoy seeing other parts of the world and hearing stories.

Just a slice of life, as it has been or was. I love the TV antennas.

@maggiemae Perhaps a worthy moment to mention that my maiden name is Sherlock. ;-)
