Photinia, shoots and leaves by s4sayer

Photinia, shoots and leaves

With little, aka nothing that screams to be photographed, am reduced to scouting in the garden .for early signs of Spring. Bingo! Photinia is a hardy, evergreen shrub and is our border wirh the lane. As the shoots become leaves, they segue from red to green. An interesting outdoor cabaret for this time of year.
Great focus, textures :)

Really like your focus. Haven't seen one of these - beautiful reds and greens.

@megpicatilly Photinia is an evergreen shrub which has red shoots in the growing season, aka now. These will turn green as they grow and harden off. Our hedge consists of about 15 of them; they look super right now.

Beautiful - no green plants in Maine.

It must be beautiful to see the colour come back after wintertime. Our winters aren't as extreme.

What this says to me is that it won't be long before hedge-cutting season starts... sigh😕

For the lovely red color, we call these "red tips".
