I spotted this mushroom at the Grotte this morning and was fascinated by how appetising it looks. I've just tried to identify it. 80 pages x 15 photos = 1200 photos, none of which show this genus. If anyone knows what it is, I'd be interested to know.
Good spot - it's in an advanced state of deterioration but if it's what I think it is (Cep de Pin) it's not poisonous but it has little taste and feels slimy and unpleasant in the mouth... much better in your photograph.

An interesting specimen, unidentified as you know. Seemed rather like a mushroom equivalent of a mule...progeny of,horse and donkey...as none of the 1200 reference photos bore the slightest resemblance.
