Candle Sculpture? by s4sayer

Candle Sculpture?

Today is the Feast of the Assumption. The candles and votives you see here are approximately 30% of the total alight when I took this shot. In addition to making a worthy shot (?) they are all in my gift this week, by exception the second of 2. I arrange and am part of the team (6 of us) who open and close the Abbey 365 days a year look after what you see here and generally 'manage' what the visitor sees. Today's Feast Day is the zenith for Summer Visitors; I tended these candles and votives 4 times in between manning the Sacristy where the Abbey's treasures are displayed. I fell asleep, ostensibly reading... Meanwhile, I VML how the candles gutter, although they're not in a draugnty spot. They could almost have been carved. Incidentally the statue is C15th.

More go and glow on black.

A whole lot of guttering going on! I like this... but that won't surprise you.

What a wonderful capture. Looking at a melted, guttered candle is like viewing a sculpture in slow motion.

Wonderful. I like the candles look in front of that wonderful statue. Great light and it does have more glow on black.

Candles seem to add something to a church, especially one as old as yours.
