Late afternoon light in Paimpont Abbey by s4sayer

Late afternoon light in Paimpont Abbey

Paimpont Abbey's 2018 Summer Season opens Monday 2 July. Today all hands were present and correctly cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, odd jobbing etc. to ensure our C12th Abbey would be wearing her best bib and tucker for her visitors from all corners of France and the world beyond. We receive many pilgrims en route to Breton sites and beyond, particularly Compestel in Spain.

I went back later to see if the late afternoon had a shot for me. St Marguerite, whilst commanding a fine view over the organ in the late sunlight, had her eye on me as I clicked at what you're now looking at.

Recommended on black.

I imagine the summer season is like company coming for a stay - Happpy to see it come and happy to see it go.

Never heard of Marguerite but nice to know there is a saint with that name. Not that I am a saint in any way! You are privileged to have that Abbey for your season - music?

You timed your second visit just right as the sun falling on the organ has created an attractive scene.

The light highlighted the organ pipes, but also lent enough light to see the beautiful painting of Ste. Marguerite.
