Spotted this at St Gonlay this morning and stopped on the way home to take a shot. St G has a population of 346 souls at the last Census. Mounting an Agricultural Show is no mean feat; perhaps the locals are either mad and/or reckless. Having said that they do it every year...and such events are well supported by the local community.
You may have noticed that this elaborate display is staged in front of the Mairie (Town Hall) on the right and the Ecole (Primary School) on the left. Seems a sensible arrangement in a small village. This particular school is now an interactive Museum. It's open all the year round for visitors (adults and children alike) to do handwriting exercises with dip-in-ink pens, mental arithmetic, recitation of moral standards and more. Book now!
