This is a lovely shot. Even though they are not usually going anywhere, it is not always easy to capture a statue. Tell me what the when and if are that were not present in previous attempts...
Oh for the right lens - right fstop=right shutter speed - right ISO-right light-right angle. And then you need that bit of magic that happens when you get what you wanted.
My first thought - he has a quite jaunty look to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he swaggered a bit in real life. (Although perhaps not since saints don't get to be saints by swaggering.) The tree limbs just out like rays of light. Great composition.
