Heron's nest by sabresun

Heron's nest

The Sisters of the Christian Retreat opened St. Anthony's Convent at Heron's Nest, Heron Street, in 1901, but to accommodate members of the order who had been expelled from France the convent was moved in 1904 to Heron Court in the same street, a house built opposite the Roman Catholic church in 1851 by Joseph Whitgreave.

Heron's Nest was retained as the residence of the nuns' chaplain until the early 1920's and was later sold.
Love it! Brings me back to my old days in Canterbury. :)

@ladydi @pyrrhula @clarissajohal @mandyrob @exposure4u @soybon @denisedaly @maryellen @shortperson2002 @lovemyflowers @mrangryuk A friend of mine who has a recording studio in what was once the convent recently told me this, "They say there's a tunnel under the road from there to Heron Court aka my studio! Not seen it myself but it goes back to when Heron Court was a convent." It's probably a bit of an urban myth, but who knows.
