This gargoyle must've at one time been high up on Lichfield cathedral and been taken down for some reason (I've no idea why except for safety). It has no damage to it to speak of, so couldn't have fallen off or anything like that. It's large, and It now sits around the back of a nearby cafe, looking skywardly grumpy and no doubt thinking that it shouldn't be unsuitably grounded in this way.
I thought I'd post it showing the changes I made to it. Originally, it was shot in 2010, but the editing was done last night. First the image was sharpened up, and the colour brightened a little to bring out the mossy greens. After that, I clone stamped over the air vent in the wall (top right pic) which was distracting in the original shot and finally did the same with a bit of mortar above his head (bottom left pic) to make his head the focus rather than the background.
Nb - I posted this first last night and it defaulted to posting it for 2010. I thought I'd lost it, went to bed and forgot about it. Anyhow, this morning I found it again as it had some comments on which sadly I've now lost trying to update it to the current 365 month. So, if you left a reply (thank you for those) and now it's gone that's the reason for that, a blunder on my part.
I love how old this gargoyle is and how you talk about its history M. The work you did on the editing is so seamless. I cannot tell where the stamp came from and, quite honestly, I could never have known it once had a grate there if you had not told me. In fact, I would never have guessed there had been any "doctoring" at all.
This is a very fine example of how much effort you put into each photo you undertake. Most people just take a photo, you take 300 and narrow them down to 6 or so, and then you work on getting them "just right" until you choose the final piece. Sometimes I think you are cracked..but mostly I am just proud of you.
@alecio@denisedaly@maryellen@clarissajohal Thanks for taking a look at this, I'm not sure why, but this gargoyles looks a little Japanese in style to me. @clarissajohal I must check out Victor, I'm not sure if I've seen him or not, and I passed on your message from Victor to the gargoyle in my pic, but he just growled at me. :)
