Left overs from making pencils. by sailingmusic

Left overs from making pencils.

These wood "logs" measure about 5"X22" and are just right for a wood stove. They are what is left over from very large logs that have been put on a lathe and turned to get pencils. These are very good firewood for winter and do not cost as much as regular cut and chopped cord wood as it is something the pencil factory has in excess.
Great shot

That's interesting. One pencil drilling from each log. It seems they could punch more holes in them and get more pencils. But it is great to be able to buy them for firewood.

@henrir No they make tons of pencils out of the starting log. This piece is what is left on the lathe when they have made all the pencils.

The things you learn here! So neat to see the leftovers being repurposed - never thought about how they make pencils - and now I know! Made a super shot.
