Male Cabbage White clinging to a bloom. by sailingmusic

Male Cabbage White clinging to a bloom.

Slim pickings in my flower garden. Don't have too much blooming anymore and my mums and shasta daisy plants aren't out yet. I know this is a male because it has one spot, females have two spots. Learn something new everyday. 9/17/2019PP
Sweet flowers, so interesting. Ah one spot instead of two!

Lovely close up capture. It's like that here, too, now. Flowers are past their prime and I haven't had any luck with butterflies this summer.

Well captured in context -- these are such flighty ones they are hard to catch.

These cabbage one are not easy to photograph, but make a nice subject when one does catch one.

Very few cabbage whites this year -must have been a lot of changes in their surroundings ( like all the weed-eating down by the creek) the past few years.

Great shot -- didn't know about the spot system - in future I won't be confused when I see them chasing one another ! ha !!
