Tulbagh was founded and developed in 1743 by Dutch and Hugenot settlers. This is when the church was built. After the earthquake in 1969 every building in Church Street was restored (32 in total). All these buildings have been declared National Monuments.

Beautiful shot, love the lines and the colors. Our architecture was influenced by Dutch and Hugenot settlers too - interesting to see something like this in a place that far away.
I love the blue tones in this shot! My husband's side of the family has Dutch/Hugenot roots (both on his mother and father's side). The pineapples particularly caught my eye- a symbol of welcome and hospitality if I remember correctly.
@olivetreeann Ann they are pineapples (well that's what I think they are anyway!). I never knew that pineapples were a symbol of welcome and hospitality. Quite ironic as this building used to be a restaurant!
