Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
Beautiful simple composition and complimenting background. Interesting choice to focus on the very tip of the flower instead of the yellow bit (please help me out: I don't know what it is called in English!)
@ericdibosco Lol, I had no idea what the yellow bit was called do I looked it up! This is what I found out - the inflorescence takes the form of a solitary pseudanthium (false flower), with a showy white or yellow spathe (a specialised petal like bract) shaped like a funnel with a yellow, central, finger-like spadix, which carries the true flowers. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zantedeschia) So there now we both know (although I have no idea what the Afrikaans would be!). All this and such big words for a Monday morning!
@kwiksilver my original aim was to get the whole thing in focus, but failed miserably! I prefered how this one looked as opposed to the one where the back of the flower was in focus and the tip not. I should have taken the tripod out and done a whole lot of selective focus shots and then stacked them. Something for another day I guess.....
Heavens, Sally! When you talk about stacking you really lose me! Baby steps ... ;)
Never mind about all the specialised words - the "yellow bit" works for me ;) @ericdibosco@salza
