I have no idea what this plant is. Some say it is an amaryllis. For the first seven years we lived here it was just some sad looking leaves. Initially I thought it was a clivia plant. Flowered for the first time in 2011. Next time it flowered was in 2015. Waiting to see what this flower will look like.

@julzmaioro@fbailey it's definitely not a clivia. Before it flowered in 2011 I thought it might be a clivia as the leaves are very similar. One of the confusing factors is that the leaves have never died back.
@888rachel have researched into both amaryllis and hippest rum. Plant could be either one although the leaves never go yellow nor die back. It also doesn't flower every year. For 7 years we didn't see anything resembling a bud even. Then it flowered and then only flowered again 4 years later, which was 2 years ago. I am going to send some picture to a nursery and someone very clued up with regards both amaryllis and hippeastrum and see what they come back with.
