This is The Grand Lake Queen. She is a sixty-seven foot twin deck paddle wheel riverboat that offers sightseeing tours of the lake.
Definitely not the greatest of photos, but I grabbed my camera as we drove over Sailboat Bridge. She was going out for a sunset cruise.
The older sister the Cherokee Queen has been part of Grand Lake's history since the 1940's. She sank to the bottom in 1962. After several attempts she was brought to the surface and renovated. In 2012 the original owners sold the boats and the marina to an Indian tribe. For several years both boats just sat docked and deteriorated. In 2018, after an ongoing legal battle, the original owners regained control of the marina and the boats. They invested a lot of money to renovate the Grand Queen. She just started tours again this summer after our flood. The smaller boat is going to be renovated as a museum.
Thanks for stopping by. I apologize for being behind in commenting. It's a holiday 3 day weekend and we've been kind of busy!
