FEMALE MEADOW BROWN BUTTERFLY by sangwann

FEMALE MEADOW BROWN BUTTERFLY

Saw this butterfly while in my garden. By the time I rushed inside to get my camera it was gone. Thank God I waited for a bit because it returned a little while after.
The Meadow Brown, Maniola jurtina, is found in European meadows. Males are less colorful, with smaller eyespots and much reduced orange areas on the upper forewings. They are also much more active and range far about, while females fly less and often may not fly away from the area where they grew up.
Today is my daughter's (Denise) birthday . she is the jewel of my eyes and heart. God bless you Denise (hope she'll see this because she is not a 365 follower)
Great photo - I'll make sure that she sees your photo : )
