On Saturday, 29th September, Valletta held a Notte Bianca or A Night of Illuminations. It was a full moon and the weather still summery. All shops in Valletta, museums and public places were open to the public till the early hours of Sunday morning. Moreover, entrance to museums was free for the occasion. Thousands upon thousands of people, Maltese and tourists alike, went to Valletta for the occasion and restaurants and eating places made very good business throughout the night.
Christine and I together with friends went early – before the event started – so we could hear Sunday mass (Saturday evening mass counts for Sunday). This is a view of Merchants’ Street getting ready to receive its first visitors. Merchants’ Street is normally a pedestrian street. The shot is taken from a structure about 3 storeys high erected at a crossing for the occasion.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
I am finding your photos truly fascinating and your narratives informative and entertaining. Thank you for sharing it all. I like this street shot because it's very well done but also because the balconies remind me a little of some cities in Peru, where I grew up.
Like this streetshot, your processing choices and the POV. Thanks for dropping into the Boyne Valley each day. I really appreciate you visits. I always enjoy the contrast between my place and yours. Always interesting.
