These balconies are on the façade of the buildings at the Valletta Waterfront, Malta’s main cruise terminal. I took this shot when we went there for our family reunion and the balconies are still decorated for carnival. The buildings were a long series of three-storey warehouses built during the time of Grand Master Manuel Pinto de Fonseca around 250 years ago. Until a decade or two ago they were called Pinto Stores and were run by the Maltese Customs Department as stores for high duty goods as wines, spirits, cigarettes and perfumery. I remember them very well – my first posting when I was selected for the job of Customs Officer was right here and the first 10 years of my career at the Customs Department were working from an office in these buildings.
Thank you very much for looking and for your wonderful comments on yesterday’s picture.
