I took this shot from the window of a look-out position (Gardiola) on the old city walls of L-Isla (Senglea).
The Aurora (the cruise liner I posted yesterday) was berthed at the Valletta Waterfront when I saw it again. It dwarfed the city walls which are at least 8 to 10 storeys high and the whole of Floriana.
Yesterday, I had to go again to Valletta for a quick errand, didn’t take my camera and was disappointed. I was in Valletta at 8.00a.m and being a bit early walked down to the city walls overlooking Grand Harbour. Another large cruise liner was coming into port at the time (which proved my theory of yesterday, that the Aurora was late in arriving) and I watched it making a half circle turn on its own axis without any help whatsoever. It would have been great to capture it on a short video.
Today, Birgu (Vittoriosa) on the opposite side of L-Isla is celebrating the feast of its patron saint - Saint Lawrence. I have an early shot or two of the preparations from L-Isla which I will show later.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
Love the way the stone window provides the frame. The maneuverability of these ships is amazing. I've sailed into many ports but have never seen the tugs having to assist. Fav
