Sunday before last I was early on the promenade to take shots of sunrise. It was already a big effort for me to go out so early and you can imagine my frustration when I saw these clouds on the horizon that didn’t want to budge. It seemed to me that the sun was enjoying itself teasing me from behind those clouds without any sign of bursting out. I took shot after shot hoping to see the sun above the clouds. I left for home when it was light but the sun was still covered. My decision, taken there and then, was never to wake up early just to go out to take sunrise pictures (something which I will soon forget about and have another go). So frustrating.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely and encouraging comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Dione this is still a beautiful photo with all the atmosphere!
Love your pov and the blue tones.
I've gotten up early for a sunrise many times to be disappointed but I still keep trying............love that time of day.

Despite the disappointment of not seeing the sun as you wished, this is still a lovely image with all the drama and color of the clouds adding all sorts of detail and interest to this waterfront scene.
A wonderful late evening capture of this beautiful place . Love the capture of the light. Fav.
Indeed . I was laying on the ground and get up with the great help of my wife.
Well, you gave it a good try Dione. Perhaps checking in with (but not fully believing) the weather folks the night before will give you a heads up as to whether you should try to get up early or not! Still the sky is quite lovely here, in spite of it only being a partial sunrise.
