New Year’s Day was the coldest 1st January ever recorded in Malta. When I grapped the camera to go out for a walk it was raining and Christine said: “Where are you going out in this weather? Are you going out of your mind!” I hadn’t gone out for the past 2 days as we had Max and I didn’t want to take him out in that cold so I said: “Whatever it is, I’m going out today!” and off I went.
It was really cold but when I got to the Sliema promenade I was rewarded for standing by my word. The sea was giving a one-sea show of how powerful it could be. I took shots every few paces I did, the camera (and I too) got soaked wet with the sea spray and I was continuously wiping the lens from the sea salt. I was thankful for having taken the Panasonic instead of the Nikon DSLR - I said to myself: “If I have to damage the camera better this than the other”. As soon as I got home I wiped the camera with tepid water and it seems ok now.
This is the first of a series of pictures which I will be showing for the day.
Joke: I met a friend of mine whom I hadn’t seen for years and we were talking about our career when he said: “You know my mother wanted be to become a priest.”
“Really,” I said ”Did you go to the seminary?”
And he repied: “No. Can you imagine me giving up my sex life and then once a week people come in to tell me the details and highlights of theirs?”
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
The spray from the waves is just tremendous! I can almost hear the deafening sound of the surf on the rocks here! It is so built up right on the foreshore - must be strong buildings!
That is an angry sea. Very brave of you to go out in weather like that. I love the joke again. As for drying the camera. I use a plastic bag to keep most of the moisture off it, then dry it with a hair-dryer when I get home. Takes a while but has worked for me.
Those are some powerful waves - mix that with those fantastic clouds and you really have an awesome shot. Looking forward to seeing more (and keep the jokes coming!)
