My peach tree has started blooming. It is an early fruit producer of the peach family. Will not have many fruit this year as I had it heavily pruned because it had outgrown its space in the garden. When I saw this flower and considering we had a lovely sunny day yesterday I thought Winter was out but I was mistaken – it is cold and wet today, again.
Joke: A few days before Christmas, the minister of a church visited his friend, hoping to get his usual Christmas present – a bottle of homemade peach brandy. This time his friend told him that he had to thank him for the peach brandy from the pulpit the next Sunday.
In his haste to get the bottle, the minister hurriedly agreed and left. So the next Sunday the minister prepared to make a public announcement that he was being supplied alcohol from a member of the church. His friend sat in the front pew with a grin on his face, waiting to see the minister's embarrassment.
The minister climbed into the pulpit and said, "Before we begin, I have an announcement. I would very much like to thank my friend, Joe, for his kind gift of peaches... and for the spirit in which they were given!"
Thank you so much for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
Oh, what a harbinger of spring!! Beautiful flowers, and luscious bokeh in the background! FAV!! By the way, we used to have 3 nectarine trees, one of them being a really early bloomer. Unfortunately, it got a disease, so we had to cut it down, and I miss those pink flowers in January. My husband pruned the other one almost down to the trunk, so no fruit for us this year, either! Hopefully, it will produce a lot next year! Oh, and I love the "spirit" of Christmas...
But why the other small twig, there is only a small leaf on it.
