Shot taken on the morning of Good Friday in Gozo. Christine and I spent the morning touring these lovely decorated churches.
This is Gozo Cathedral – the seat of Gozo’s bishop. It is dedicated to the Assumption (to heaven) of Our Lady.
Last preparations were being made for the procession/pageant of Christ’s cruxifiction which would take place in the late afternoon-evening. Seems that one of the local tv channels was also making the necessary arrangements to cover the event on screen.
Built on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Juno, the present church was constructed between 1697 and 1711.
The Cathedral, enclosed in the Citadel, is a fine baroque structure designed by Maltese architect Lorenzo Gafa in the form of a Latin cross. It is built entirely from local lime stone.
Joke: One enterprising man asked the Lord, "Lord, how long is a million years to you?"
The Lord replied, "To me, a million years is like a second."
The man asked, "Lord, how much is a million dollars to you?"
The Lord said, "To me, a million dollars is like a penny."
The man asked, "Lord, may I have a penny?"
The Lord answered, "Sure, just a second."
Thank you very much for looking and for all the wonderful comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Beautiful interior of this magnificent church. I've been astounded by how many stunning old churches there are in your area. That domed ceiling is amazing. And did enjoy your joke today.
