I consider this as one of my best shots, if not the best, ever . It is sooc on manual settings and I took it at 6.25 am as I waited for the sun to appear. The sky was very cloudy and I think the blue in the sky and on the water is amazing with the streak of light on the horizon and the remaining lights of Valletta.
Thank you so much for your views comments and fav’s very much appreciated.
England 2 – Malta 0 and that is the result of yesterday’s clash between Goliath (England) and David (Malta) and all of us Maltese are proud of this result notwithstanding the defeat. With one or two exceptions, all the Malta players are part-timers. I saw the match on playback as we went out in the evening and went back home to watch the match when I knew the result already. So I had the advantage of taking note of the details of the match without the excitement of real-time viewing. Malta played a defensive game just as expected but the team was very well organised and was never in panic. In fact England had very few scoring chances. I have to say that England looked mediocre on the pitch like they were in recent outings.
Wonderful image, Dione. Fav. I like the amount of light in the sky, not totally black, so you have some detail and colour. The harbour buildings glow. England football team were poor really, but well done to Malta - so small a country and with part-timers - for a very effective performance. I think it rather reflects were we are as a nation now. So much uncertainty. And a divided nation, even more after Brexit than before. Thank you for your comments on this, Brexit etc. As you know, Tina and I wanted to stay part of Europe/EU. We want a unified Europe, we love Europe and travelling through it, meeting people etc. Free movement of EU people is NOT the problem, the main problem on immigration for UK is from non-EU areas and we should have been able, and be able, to control this. Thanks again for your interest and comments on my pages. Best wishes to you and Christine.
The Europe we believe in respects European countries, heritage, their different histories and ways of life. (As should those going to live in those countries - 'when in Rome' etc.) But works together for the common good and, yes, for security - is essential in these times of threats from so many directions. Naive to think we don't need to defend ourselves or stand up for those unable to do so.
Gorgeous capture. Fav!! 😃 England are pretty useless, nothing unusual. Perhaps if the local teams had just English players and not ultra expensive foreigners, they might be able to put together a better team. I'm not a fan of football, much prefer rugby 🏉 union.
. I think it must be the beautiful Valletta at night , just a perfect capture.
After seeing this for real about 10yrs ago both night and day, I think you have done it justice with this capture.
Glad your team did well.
