A 1,200 ROOM PALACE FOR THE ROYALTY

Who the f*** needs a house that big?
Shot taken on 10th July, 2017 – fourth day of our Sorrento holiday.
This is the Caserta Royal Palace as we walked through its grounds to the main entrance of the building.
The Royal Palace at Caserta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was commissioned by Charles III of Bourbon in the 1700s. Luigi Vanvitelli, a Neapolitan architect, planned this palace which is a triumph of the Italian Baroque. It is an ideal and harmonious fusion of two other royal residences: the Royal Palace at Versailles and the Escorial Palace in Madrid.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
You are so right. Who precisely needs a house this size? But an interesting place none the less.

This lovely palace was used twice in the Star Wars movies as Queen Jamillia's palace in The Phantom Menace and also in Attack of the Clones. Big place to live, but fantastic film set!

Incredible that anyone would feel the need to build something this size as a residence. @casablanca Interesting to read it has featured in Star Wars.

Have to agree with Casablanca it looked wonderful in Star wars but I certainly wouldn't want to clean it. 😊

Impressive building and excellent capture. It must take an army of cleaners to look after 1200 rooms.
