This is one of, if not the most, secluded places in Malta, situated on the western side of the island in rural surroundings. The name of the bay translates in English as ‘The Mouth of the Wind’ – I tried to find out how this bay got its name but have not succeeded.
I first went there a few weeks ago but finished up somewhere else. On the way back home I stopped at Ġnejna Bay where I got into a conversation with a nice man who explained to me how to find Fomm ir-Riħ. I again went there a week after and was going to make the same mistake as before and only succeeded in finding the right ‘track’ after stopping a few people on the way to confirm that I was going in the right direction. I loved the place so much that within another week I returned with Max.
Public access to the quiet pebble beach is disputed with only one road which is currently illegally blocked. No wonder I wasn’t able to walk down to the beach when I went there with Max specifically to find a way down to the beach. I promised myself that I will go again and again until I find the way down to the beach to take some shots from down there.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
Such a beautiful secluded bay - with such an azure blue sea - I love the rugged land leading to the calm sea ! ( in spite of being called the "mouth of winds ") fav
