September 14th – first full day of our Sicily holiday with the family.
I would have stayed longer here but we arrived almost at midday and we went straight to a restaurant for lunch which with everybody talking as if it had been ages since we last met we wasted too much time at the restaurant. Besides, Ian wanted to take Max to the beach when we got back to Capo San Vito something I wasn't keen on as we go to swim everyday in Malta.
Erice is a village among the most beautiful in Italy. It is situated on top of Mt San Guiliano (751m), offers breathtaking views towards Trapani and the the salt-pans outside the city .Its history is enhanced by the poet Virgil, who cites Erice in his most famous work, the Aeneid, making it a stop in the Trojan hero Aeneas’s journey. Porta Trapani and continue with a walk through the alley streets and the squares, bordered by churches and palaces that, in open spaces, reveal majestic landscapes.
