FORT ST ANGELO by sangwann

FORT ST ANGELO

Three shots of the fort as we strolled around the place. The sun was scourging and we continuously were searching for some shade.
Fort St Angelo has a long history. Built by the Knights over the ruins of a castle dating back to Norman times, Fort St. Angelo lies at the tip of Birgu (Vittoriosa), one of the Three Cities, overlooking the whole of the Valletta Grand Harbour. Built by the Knights over the ruins of a castle dating back to Norman times, Fort St. Angelo played a very important part during the 1565 Great Siege of Malta by Ottoman forces which were much bigger than the defenders and who were defeated and had to call a hasty retreat after a siege taking long months.
Thank you very much for all your looks, comments and fav's on yesterday's picture.

It does look scorchingly hot. No wonder there's no-one on the bench seat. Beautiful colours though, lovely shots and interesting info as always Dione.
