Shot is from 21st July 2024, second day of our family get together in Sicily.
Arriving at Ragusa town centre, what do you think we did first? Straight to a restaurant where Ian had booked our meal for the day and where dogs are accepted. We dined out on a rather big porch of the restaurant. Around the iron rail that formed the perimeter of the premises these ceramic pots had plants in them. I thought that these three could make a lovely image, so here they are.
The idea of kneading clay with water and then cooking it dates back to about 8000 years ago. Sicilian pottery has ancient traditions and the first evidence dates back to that period, called the Neolithic, because man, in addition to breeding animals, only knew how to work with stone.
Sicily, the cradle of civilization, in the center of the Mediterranean, gave birth to pottery with different colors and shapes depending on the area of the island of production.
Thank you for your loos, comments and fav's on yesterday's picture. About yesterday's picture I was joking when I wrote that the cathedral was named after me. First of all I am not a saint but it happens that the initial of San (saint) is the same of my full name and Giorgio which is my surname, in Italian means George.
