KINGFISHER

I took this shot at Salini Bird Reserve. It is not a good picture and I would have erased it immediately if I hadn’t noticed that this was a Kingfisher, a bird I had never seen before in Malta. It was at a long distance away and I was aiming at an egret and captured it by chance.

We get these in the UK, although I have not seen one for several years. I love seeing them flying low over the water as a silver-blue flash. Amazing.
