No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day -
No sky - no earthly view -
No distance looking blue -
No road - no street - no 't'other side the way' -
No end to any Row -
No indications where the Crescents go -
No top to any steeple -
No recognitions of familiar people -
No courtesies for showing 'em -
No knowing 'em -
No travelling at all - no locomotion,
No inkling of the way - no notion -
'No go' - by land or ocean -
No mail - no post -
No news from any foreign coast -
No Park - no Ring - no afternoon gentility -
No company - no nobility -
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, -
November!
Well perhaps it's not quite as bleak as that but I do find November the most difficult month of the year. Today it was almost reassuring to find online that MELBOURNE temperatures were pretty much the same as ours! And glad we had much warmer days when we were there!
Three good things
1. Up early and cleared a huge pile of ironing before school!
2. Fun maths learning with my groups today.
3. Delicious dinner from the freezer. We think David and Jenn made it when they were here in August.....😄😄😄😄
There's a well known Dutch poet (J.C. Bloem) who wrote a poem about November. In this video you can read the text. Of course I know you don't speak Dutch and I am not a translator, but he ends his poem with these lines: "Always November, always rain, always this empty heart, always..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB_eTh9X6_M
Melancholic isn't it?

Thank you for your comments. I can appreciate that in the southern hemisphere November is nothing like this poem....it was a glorious day on Nov 1st which was the last day of our recent trip to Melbourne!
Our sunshine boost should help us through the grey days. And I was learning outdoors with a class yesterday.....planting bulbs in one of our barrels. 😊😊
@gijsje yes she is very happy to be living and working in the Netherlands. She has quite a lot of travelling to work but has no regrets about moving across the North Sea.😊

Thanks for sharing this link, Sarah. And a good idea to send the link to Susie. Does she love living and working in Amsterdam?
