Dufton Hill by sarahhorsfall

Dufton Hill

The 18th century fell-side village of Dufton was originally built with the houses in a tightly-packed rectangle, to create an enclosure in the middle where the livestock were kept - to protect them from raiders. Today the village has expanded, but the original village green is still there, surrounded by inward-facing houses. I didn't take any photos in the village, though!

The surrounding countryside is beautiful, and we had gorgeous weather both days we were there. On the same walk on Saturday ..
Pretty, makes me feel like going walking !
