I read an article recently that called attention to the fact that most of us (myself included) look toward each new year without looking back to take an inventory of all the positive things that happened to us in 2013. I certainly have much to be thankful for in 2013 and don't usually take time to reflect on them but instead remember the bad things so vividly that they overshadow the good.
I wish each of you a healthy, joyous and fun new year that is filled with new learning opportunities and good reflections.
Yes... it is a practice to work on gratitude and positive focus. This post is a lovely reminder. I have done a christmas letter every year for 24 years and every year people chide me that its too much work, but this is what it does, it creates a time to reflect on the past year and bring forward the positive memories. 365project is fantastic for that as well... looking back through the calendar so many beautiful moments are captured and shared here!

I love the colours and reflections here Scott, a beautiful image and a fav for me. You are so right it hasn't been a great year for me with my father passing away and the weeks leading up to that were very difficult but there have also been good times this year to reflect on and be thankful for. Gorgeous shot, wonderful color tones and reflections. A fave. A nice narrative too - food for thought. Though I do think I am really good at appreciating the good things and the beauty in my life, it is always good to think over the past and improve.
