Moments before sunrise this morning I couldn't help but reflect on the events of this tragic day and all those who were lost on 9/11 thirteen years ago. Two former colleagues of mine perished at the Pentagon which made this historical tragedy quite personal.
Today, I dedicate this image to them. We will never forget you!
A most fitting tribute - I don't imagine there are very many that didn't have that tragic morning on their mind today. The colors and they way you composed this are just awesome, Scott. The reflections add so much to the uniqueness of your photo. Fav
So beautiful and a touching tribute. I too lost a friend at the Pentagon. I witnessed the explosion that day. This anniversary is always an emotional time. I appreciate the sentiment of your photo and message. Fav.
Just seen this on your favourite image of the week. I already chose to comment as it's such a powerful image, but your reason for posting it makes it even more poignant.
What a beautiful tribute to your friends who perished and the rest who lost their lives that ill-fated day. I visited the Pentagon several times since 9/11 and I always feel surreal walking through the halls and then when I get into that particular memorial room, I can feel my emotions overtaking me. So so sad . . . a date that will forever be darkened.

A huge thank you all for your kind remembrances on the 14th anniversary of this tragic day in US History. I also appreciate those who took the time to share their personal comments, experience, and reference to those they lost on that day. I was at the beach the week when I photographed this and it had rained or was cloudy about 80% of the mornings that week. But on this particular morning, the universe seemed to bow its head in tribute with this amazing sunrise which I was privileged to absorb. With sincerest thanks...
