Had carpet cleaners come in with their big powerful machines to try and get the carpet looking better. But although it's better it still looks grubby in places so wipe clean floors may be the way to go in these conditions now the lawn has died and black dust is blowing in and getting walked in. Would love bamboo but too expensive for us so will have to be ceramic floor tiles
@beckyk365 We have decided to live with the stained carpet for the time being - at least until after winter! In the meantime we will pave some of the outdoor area to reduce the amount of lawn that needs to be watered, so that perhaps our shower water will be sufficient to get a small patch of grass growing to reduce the amount of dirt and dust coming into the house.
